Our mind works in funny ways...

It is wired to enjoy the comfort of the known, of the least possible amount of change. It will tell you that things are ok just the way they are, and there is no need for taking risks or stepping into that big unknown outside of the comfort zone.

But if we would always follow that principle, we would stop evolving.

It is almost like having multi personalities - one that tells you that, the way things are are good enough, no need to adjust/move/change. While another little voice inside craves for the" what ifs", for the adventure, for the change.

Just like the cartoons, with that little angel and the little devil, one in each shoulder, chatting about which steps you should take next—arguing about the pros and cons, the benefits and the risks. You're the sole observer, listening to the options and choosing the route that is more in line with your beliefs. A third element is the one dismantling the options given, and presenting you with an action plan.

The exciting thing is, the private chatting continually evolves over time when being fed with external information, knowledge, and experiences. It does not stand still, and it is uniquely yours. Each one of us has their own elements of self, showing us which path to take. Some are more inclined to the comfort of home, while others are in thirst for the "what ifs".

No one can ever fully understand how it is to walk in someone else's shoes. We can relate to parts of it, out of similar encounters we've had in the past, or shared beliefs, but never fully. Our past experiences, our upbringing, our visions, it all differs from one another, creating different levels of private chatting.

We share parts of our inside world with the external environment, other parts we prefer to keep for ourselves. We believe that others could not comprehend some thoughts (sometimes even because we don't understand them ourselves), others would never be accepted by the constructed society, so we keep them private, releasing only that which our environment allows. With specific individuals, we share some bits and pieces of our experiences, with others more or less—all depending on the level of connection.

But, independent of how much you choose to share, or not to, one thing is for sure: only you will ever know how it is to live your own reality.
