Protect our Glaciers at CERVO

September 8, 2024

Those who have been following me for a while with the Hotel Nomad project probably know that I have been to Zermatt a few times in the past years, most of the time to create photography for various Hotels in the area.

Zermatt started becoming almost like a second home for me. Every time I go back, a sense of calmness and pure inspiration takes over me. A feeling of freedom settles in, and a desire to explore everything nature offers.

This time, my visit to Zermatt was for a slightly different reason.

In the summer of 2022, I created the Protect our Glaciers project to raise awareness about melting glaciers and funds for Protect Our Winters Switzerland . The idea originated from one of my walks the year before, which led me close to the rivers emerging from the glaciers’ melted ice.

Last week, eight images from that project were installed in five rooms of the breathtaking CERVO Mountain Resort .

My visit to Zermatt last week was to create content and share with you a taste of how the rooms look like with my images hanging on the walls.

Back in May 2021, I had the chance to stay nearly three weeks at the CERVO Mountain Resort , and it has become one of my favourite hotels. The attention to detail, the focus on sustainability measures, and the openness and reachability of the owners, Daniel F. Lauber and Seraina Lauber —who had a dream and made it happen—make the place a true oases.

Since my last stay, the Hotel has undergone a few changes (such as the Spa expansion), but the impeccable taste, the little gestures that make a difference, the dedication to combining environmental-friendly with economic-smart initiatives, and the top service remain.

For me, as an artist, words won’t describe the immense joy I felt when seeing the large images printed and framed by my year-long supplier Printolino GmbH.

I had the opportunity to see them not only hanging in these inspiringly decorated rooms but also tucking under the sheets, catching a glimpse of the photograph and remembering the moment it was shot before closing my eyes and falling into sweet dreams.

If you want to check them out, the images will hang in the Alpine Lodges 100, 101, 102, 104 and 105 until at least April 2025. So there’s enough time to book a night or two and admire them, too. 😉 the entire experience is worth it (you won't want to skip the delicious breakfast or the visit to the spa). 🖤

The images are also available for purchase. The prints only, or the limited edition to buy them just as they are displayed in the rooms - printed and framed. Here is the link: https://www.artforimpact.ch/protect-our-glaciers-shop

A portion of the sales will be donated to Protect Our Winters Switzerland to continue supporting them in their advocacy for the environment in the outdoor community.

A huge thank you to all the partners who made this collaboration possible! I look forward to everything yet to come 🖤
