black ice is the name given to a smooth layer of ice without snow, which shimmers from dark blue to black. It is a rare (and magical) phenomenon that occurs during winter on the lakes of St. Moritz, Silvaplana and Sils in the Engadin region. While visiting the region in the winter of 2022, I only saw small areas with ice uncovered by snow, but on rare occasions, entire surfaces look like this, and skaters can move freely across the lakes.

The images are printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, a premium 100% cotton matte paper with a century-long lifespan, using sustainable water-based pigments from our trusted Swiss Hahnemühle-certified supplier. Framing not included.

The delivery costs in Switzerland are included in the price. Currently, we do not yet deliver outside Switzerland, but if you’re in another country and wish to make an order, don’t hesitate to send me a message so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
