I'm not going back

April 20, 2023

Recently, after spending 5 months in Brazil, I decided to buy a ticket to Europe.

As soon as I mention that to friends and family, the first comment that comes, "oh, so you're going back"?

I'm not. But I'm also not coming back to Brazil (that's the second question that usually comes up during the conversation "When will you come back to Brazil?").

I made a shift in the words I use.

I'm no longer "going back" anywhere. I'm simply moving forward. I'm going to places. And from there, I'll see where I'll go next.

Isn't that the beauty of being a nomad, after all?

There's no going back; the past is past -  there’s only the now and taking steps to move forward.

I might come to Brazil again sometime soon, or I might not. I know what will happen until June; after that, the calendar is still open.

April will be about organising things. May I'll be out and about in Portugal doing again some of what I've done last (European) fall - working as a guide.

The summer is still open; I'm letting the opportunities flow in and see what comes. A time for new beginnings. A period to train patience and trust that everything will happen as it has to. Not rushing into saying impulsive yeses, but instead taking the time to reflect on whether it all makes sense or not and taking the freedom of communicating nos if it no longer makes sense.

I am excited (but also with a few butterflies in my stomach) about what is yet to come.
