Hotel Nomad

It has been one year now, one year since the Hotel Nomad project started. Little did I know back then everything that was still to come.

What started as an experiment became a sole proprietorship. From last summer until today, I've covered and lived in 12 different hotels, from which 4 I've been more than once. Twelve different homes in various parts of Switzerland and one In Italy, meeting inspiring individuals, gaining insights and learning about this, until last summer somewhat unknown to me, industry- the world of hospitality.

Where people love what they do and work probably more than in any industry I came across so far (and I've been around) - where passion is required to be able to survive in it; an industry where the goal is to serve others, to deliver others a time to remember. To work where others escape their realities, replenish their energies and/or explore new surroundings.

My reality became to live in these environments and capture the essence of hotels in pictures. A job and lifestyle integrated into one, where the lines between personal and professional lives have entirely blended.

It has been one year now that I do not have an apartment and that I called these 12 hotels I've visited home for the period of my stay - a week, two or an entire month. If people ask where I come from, I answer that Zurich is my base since that's where my storage is located(a 10m2 space where my belongings are stored and that thanks to digitization, I can access it at any time through an app). Zurich is also where I've joined the impact hub, a community I am happy to join and am proud to be a part of.

Zurich is also where part of my family and friends are located who has been pivotal in this path. Individuals who have supported and continue supporting me by providing a shelter (a room or an entire apartment) to sleep in between hotels - house sitting has become a common term in my routine. Those and others, spread worldwide, have also been essential in this journey's emotional and business aspects. Without whom I would have probably not made it so far #eternallygrateful to all of you ♥️

I've been repeatedly asked about how this life looks/feels like and how long will I still do this. The only thing I can say is that it still makes sense for me to continue. The more contact I have with different cultures (in all of its senses - business-wise, region-wise, languages, backgrounds, etc.), different environments, special individuals, the more my tank of satisfaction seems to be fueled - exchanges that bring value.

The opportunity of exploring and creating stories while translating destinations into images to support hotels in their online communication fulfils. For how long still? I can't answer that. Until it still makes sense.

Many call it a dream job (which it definitely is for me), but the comment is often also followed with the statement "I don't know if I could do that" or "that wouldn't be for me" when going into the details of the lifestyle.

It is not always only sunshine and flowers, but the learning curve is steep, and the feeling of being alive is real.

Do you own a hotel or know someone that does? As a one-woman business (taking on the roles of administration, accounting, logistics, business development, marketing and of course, the content creation itself), I'm always thankful to individuals who help me spread the word and, by this, supporting hotels in their journey (especially needed in this time of the pandemic, where online communication has become vital).

Excited about all projects yet to come 🙌
