a place formerly unsuspected

a place formerly unsuspected - an exhibition displayed at La Capsula in Zürich, Switzerland, co-created with the artists Lara Shin and Kalina Juzwiak.

“Change. but start slowly, because the direction is more important than speed” - Clarice Lispector

The poem of Clarice Lispector played as the starting point to the individual creations. Each artist created their interpretations of change and translated them into art pieces, presented jointly at the exhibition space.

June 2019

I have created the photographs to display what I see as the three steps of change:

  1. The awareness that certain things, people, and/or places must be left behind for change to occur, giving space to the new.

2. A process of confusion. The middle step between what is old and the new that is to come. A phase associated with dreams, puzzlement, and difficulty in distinguishing imagination from reality.

3. Once the hurricane of thoughts, disorientation and uncertainty has gone by, one reaches a new state of freedom. A space where one feels at its best, a type of epiphany is accomplished. One reaches complete fulfilment until the individual goes back to step 1 to initiate the next set of changes and development.
